What Female “Pastors” Get Wrong - An Unpopular Post

Updated: Jan 18, 2020

It seems that in today’s culture we have a new trend going on: female preachers and female pastors. I know I might get myself in trouble with saying this, but according to Scripture, this is unbiblical. Point blank.

“A woman should learn in silence with full submission. I do not allow a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; instead, she is to be silent. For Adam was created first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and transgressed.” This passage of Scripture comes out of 1 Timothy 2:11-14. There are many arguments people will raise as to why these verses aren’t relevant to our culture today, so I aim to refute them in this post and I also hope to encourage all believers to continue in obedience to Gods word.

1. These verses only apply to the church in the Bible, not to us today.

Wrong. Because Paul refers all the way back to the beginning of creation when he says “Adam was created first, then Eve,” we know that this applies to every culture in every generation.

2. Even if these verses do apply today, I think they are harmful and enslaving to women.

These verses only seem enslaving to women if you don’t know the grace of God and the good order that He has set up since the beginning of creation. God has made men to be the leaders of the home, which means they are the providers and protectors. And God has made women to be the helpers, nurturers and complements to their husbands and children. This is a truly beautiful thing, and as I see this put into action in my own home, I don’t feel enslaved at all. My husband needs me just as much as I need him.

3. What if God gives me a message to preach?

I’ve heard this before, but this argument doesn’t make any sense. God wouldn’t give a woman a message to preach because God has already stated in His word that women are not to “teach or hold authority over men.” God will never contradict what is stated in His word.

There are so many female preachers rising up today in many different denominations, including Methodist, Baptist and Pentecostal. No matter what denomination allows women to teach and preach over men, it is never okay.

As believers, men and women alike, we all are to submit ourselves to the lordship of Christ. This means we are to obey His word! The women that have denied the truth of this passage of Scripture have deliberately disobeyed Gods word and are not submitting themselves to Him. They are not qualified to teach over men in the first place, and they are definitely not qualified to teach if they are deliberately living in disobedience and sin.

A few women that have become popular in our day that are disobeying this Scripture include Sadie Robertson, Beth Moore and Joyce Meyer. There are many more but these are the ones that seem to be the most popular right now. I want to encourage my brothers and sisters to pray for these women, that they will turn back and humble themselves in obedience to God. I also want to urge you all to not listen to or quote these women. It is my conviction that because they are living in sin, what they say should not be heeded. (This goes for any male pastor that we know is also practicing sin, with no signs of repentance.) Brothers and sisters, lets get back to the Word.

Disclaimer: I realize that this post is counter-cultural and will not be liked. I also realize that if I keep posting stuff like this, my blog probably won’t get popular. That is okay. I want to encourage everyone to stand by what the Word of God says, even if I unintentionally offend others and am disliked. :)
