“Casting All Your Anxiety On Him…”

I have been struggling lately... especially this past week. And when I'm having a hard time, I have more difficulty writing a blog post. So this one's going to be short and sweet!

While I don't want to divulge the reason for my struggles, I do want to share a few verses that I read this morning that helped me.. because I know we all struggle and go through hard times, so this may help you as well!

"Therefore, humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you."

1 Peter 5:6-7

I have a study Bible,* and what was listed under these verses was very helpful!

• Under the mighty hand of God.

This was an OT symbol of the power of God working in the experience of men, always accomplishing His sovereign purpose.

• Casting all your anxiety on Him.

"Casting" means to throw something on something.. as to throw a blanket on a donkey.

Christians are to cast all their discontent, discouragement, despair and suffering on the Lord, and trust Him for knowing what He's doing with their lives. Along with submission and humility, trust in God is the third attitude necessary for victorious Christian living.

I don't know about you but after typing those verses and the explanations for them, I am convicted. I try to take everything in my life into my own hands because for some reason, I think I'm in control of it all! But I'm not.

So my goal each day is to humble myself under the hand of God, and trust that He cares enough about me to take care of the problems I'm currently dealing with.

The song "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" would go well with this post. I hope we all strive today to "cast all our anxieties on Him," because we have a friend in Christ.
